The staff & board of directors welcome you to the HCA website. We are happy to have the opportunity to introduce you to our organization. On the following pages we will share with you the many good works that HCA provides for members of the Hopi Indian Nation.

The goal of the Hopi Credit Association is to become the lender of choice by providing quality, culturally sensitive loans at competitive rates. We strive to meet the lending needs of the Hopi people. Our mission allows for a board-based economic development that is consumer driven on the Hopi Reservation. Our hope is to provide the bridge from a cash society to a more credit based society.

Hopi Credit Association serves community needs by providing loans to individuals, businesses and villages. It further meets community needs by providing ongoing education, counseling and financial expertise to all Hopis.

In the most recent years, the Hopi Credit Association has developed the opportunity to become a “Pass Through” or “Strategic Partner”, organization. This allows a lender to reach the end user in a meaningful and culturally sensitive way that truly promotes economic development on the Hopi Reservation. It would be impossible under current laws for banks and most lending institutions to loan money directly to Hopi People for real estate and home improvement. This is because of the “Trust Status” of Hopi lands, and issues such as “Sovereign Immunity”. By working with recognized village leaders and the Tribe, the Hopi Credit Association can overcome the legal and cultural issues that overwhelm traditional lenders.
